Anything from movies to books to a concert.

I wasn’t planning on making this post, seeing as I haven’t posted in a while due to mental and physical health stuff, but it’s 4:30 a.m. and I can’t fall back asleep.

My Top 6 Favorites of 2022

1) Elton John Concert

I am so happy I got to see him on his last tour. I’ve been a fan since I was little, and I got tickets for my mom and dad as well. The concert overall was great and it was worth the stress of trying to get tickets.

2) Werewolf by Night

I love the supernatural and monsters so I’ve been waiting for them to show up in the MCU, and when that first trailer dropped, I was hyped. And it didn’t disappoint. I love how different it is but the only downside is I don’t know when these characters and this part of the world are going to show up again.

3) Heartstopper

I read the books years ago so when the show was announced, I was a little hesitant but it delivered way beyond my expectations. It’s just a cute queer show that allows these characters to be who they are and all of the cast has great chemistry.

I was a 16 year old questioning my bisexuality so I only wish I had this show and Nick Nelson during that time.

4) Andor

This was my most unexpected love of the year. I can’t believe how invested I got. How good the storytelling and acting is. It really made you think about the every day people dealing with the Empire and the consequences of the rebellion but knowing that they have to do it in order for things to get better.

Side rant: I think so much of the cast got screwed when it came to nominations. So many of them deserved it.

5) Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

I had a very bad theater experience but putting that aside, I started crying the second the Marvel logo played, and did so many times throughout the movie. I think despite the circumstances, it turned how to be such a good movie that was still able to represent the reoccurring theme of grief in phase four.

I can’t wait for it to come out on Disney+ so I can actually watch it without a child running up and down the aisle for half the movie.

6) The Finch App

A lot could have gone in this spot but this app really helped my mental health when I needed it.

You get a baby finch, and as they go on adventures and age, you are using this self-care app to reflect on your day, write down your goals, do breathing exercises, and focus on your well-being.

One of my favorite parts is if you’re having a bad day or mood is low, there is a first aid option that gives you a hotline you can call and ways to help you calm down.

Honorable Mentions

  • Stranger Things
  • Ms. Marvel
  • The Sandman
  • Star Wars: Rebels
  • The Great North
  • Cosmonauts
  • Shady Hollow Mystery Series
  • The Great British Bake Off
  • Tales of The Jedi
  • She-Hulk
  • Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

Overall

There was a lot that came out that I haven’t gotten to and MANY books I haven’t read or finished.

Then there was a lot I did watch that I was super excited for and were a bit disappointing to me (i.e. Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, The Umbrella Academy)

It wasn’t until I wrote this post that I realized how much came out this year, and how much didn’t even make this list. But I’ve got a lot to look forward to next year as well.
